If there’s one thing I can say with certainty, it’s that no one who is successful and happy with their life is in the comments section of YouTube, Instagram, X, etc having beefs with people and writing snarky comebacks.
It’s loser behaviour and it actually disgusts me when I see it.
Both masculinity and femininity have their good and bad behaviours, and this incessant sniping, snark and trying to beat someone in the comments section is the worst kind of schoolgirl, feminine behaviour out there right now.
You’re better than that, aren’t you?
In the first couple of modules of the 1% Man Project course, I talk about cutting out low level behaviours, and this is one of them. There’s literally no good reason to be doing it, because…
If you’re happy and successful, you’ve got better things to do with your time
If you’re not where you want to be yet, you’ve got better things to do with your time
You don’t look cool or smart, you look like a loser
Nothing makes me roll my eyes more than the moron on X who tries to zing Elon Musk. I remember seeing this one guy a year or so ago who wrote this snarky comeback to something Elon wrote. It was dripping in sarcasm and smugness. He clearly thought he was the bees knees and that he’d brought Musk down a peg or two.
To anyone who wasn’t a moron though? The question that immediately came to mind was “Musk is running multiple billion dollar companies, one of which sends rockets into space. Who the fuck are you again?”
I saw something similar in the comments of a video I watched where Kobe Bryant talks about his training methodology. One of his practices was the fact that he trained up to five times per day. He reasoned that if he can squeeze in one or two more training sessions in per day than everyone else, in just a couple of years he’ll be so far ahead that they never catch up.
Cue the guys in the comments section, questioning his wisdom. Not in a snarky way like the above mind you, but still saying things like “you can’t train your body that much, you’ll start to shut down.” “You don’t need to get up that early, some people’s body clocks work differently.”
Seriously my guy? Shut the fuck up. This is one of the greatest to ever play the game, and here you are in the comments trying to find ways he’s wrong.
Levelling up isn’t just about getting better…
It’s also about cutting out behaviours that are pulling you down. The time you spend scrolling through comments, getting annoyed at someone, formulating a snarky response and then trying to top their response to yours is such an incredible waste of mental energy and effort that you could be putting someplace better.
So here’s an idea.
Unless you want to comment something positive on someone’s work, don’t even go to the comments section.
If you see something you disagree with, stamp down the inclination to respond to it.
Ask yourself, why do you even care what someone else on the internet - who you don’t even know, thinks?
As the saying goes from when you were at school: keep your eyes on your own work. Don’t worry about what other people are doing. You want to look better than other people? Do it with what you achieve and how you live, rather than lowering yourself to the level of every neckbeard loser who thinks they’re smarter than the rest of us just because they’re zinging other people online.
There isn’t a single successful person who’s happy with their life out there right now spending their time fighting with people in the comments. Something to think about.
This week’s video:
Start 2024 off right with the 1% Man Project course
If you’re looking for some direction, if you’re looking to level up in an overall sense but don’t really know how, my course is perfect for you. A good friend once said to me “youth is wasted on the young,” because you have all the physical attributes you need, but none of the maturity or perspective to go along with it.
That’s what my course is.
It’s me taking everything I’ve learned and achieved, and distilling it into an easy to follow, weekly course designed for me back when I was 18 years old. Whether you’re still a teenager or you’re in your thirties, it’ll give you the skills and knowledge you need to completely change your life.
Most importantly, it’s $40. One payment. I’m not looking to get you on a regular subscription, pumping you for money. I’m not looking to have you reliant on me. What I’m looking to do is create an army of men with the foundational skills to fly and live an incredible life.
